Shows to watch with the wife?

Postby sculls » Wed Aug 24, 2016 12:07 pm

Any recommendations, we're out of materiel?

Hard to reconcile both tastes. We did like Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, Homeland, The Affair, ...

Should not be overly violent and my wife dislikes fantasy and scifi.

Thx for all suggestions.

I used to try to find things that got them in the mood. That aside basically anything they like. For my lady it's that ladies channel with all the "hot steamy" movies. Then there is QVC and finally what I truly hate: Keeping up with the Kardashians.

What do I do during these times: play Sudoku and/or bass. I can't play my guitar for it distracts her but since my bass is electric, I can work on technique as she watches this crap.

If we are doing the couple watching thing, it's usually a movie or a show we follow together but the later that list is almost non-existent for we just about tired of all shows. The only shows I am still into is the Big Bang and NCIS.

Hulu has "The Path". It's a drama about a cult, really good show. Another one my wife and I watch together is "The Americans". It's a spy show set in 1980s Washington dc. They're Russian spies in the US.
Although you said no Sci fi, I'm still going to recommend "Stranger Things" on netflix. Even if you don't watchave it with her, the show was fantastic.

If we are talking about streaming "Numbers" was good.

We actually both enjoy Scorpion and started watching the one about the tattooed lady (the title escapes me Blind spot?), but work got in the way of that one...

Thx, I'll check out The Path.

She didn't like The Americans as she generally cares little for spooks and the show comes with a certain amount of violence. The latter I understand, I'm fed up with pointless TV violence too. If it's an important part of the story like in Narcos, why not? But otherwise, show it offstage like in old movies. I especially don't need to see all that torture crap that is going around lately.

I don't typically like spy shows, but I think it's the nostalgia of the 80s in The Americans that gets me.
Try the path. There is some violence, but it makes sense in the show.

Found something: Victoria (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5137338/?ref_=nv_sr_1) British ipt TV series.

It's the romantizised and dramatized story of queen Victoria's early reign. Meh, but it's got Gruppenführer Smith in it, so the acting is top notch. I also didn't know anything about the history at court of the period. It's furthermore interesting to witness monarchy on the way out and parliamentary democracy coming into full force.
