MEPS duck walk

Postby wangchung63 » Thu Feb 19, 2009 7:31 pm

i went to the MEPS (military enlistment processing station) today for my physical and did great in every category, except i could not pass the duck walk. this duck walk was much different then the exercise i am used to doing and all the others i saw on the web. they told me i was DQ'd so i applied for a waiver. If anyone has prior knowledge or some good links for the military style duck walk please let me know. THANKS!

How couldn't you do it? Were you not flexible enough, or? I know I almost fell over while doing it.

I was at MEPS Jan.28th and the duck walk was pretty simple. Stupid, but simple. Like egarlach asked, How couldn't you do it? Did you fall over? Tell us the story.

They were probably using that to rate your flexibility/mobility/cordnation/balance. I remember doing it in 99. I would suggest practicing the duck walk multiple times per day until you can do it correctly. Did you ask your recruiter for advice?

As I remember, the duck walk was used to check for problems with the hips. One guy was DQed because the kept cracking and popping out of joint.

This is pretty amazing - they would DQ you because you can't duck walk?? Jeez

Last time I was in a war zone, I didn't see anyone duck walking. Seems to me that with the difficulties the services are having with recruiting, they would not consider this a show-stopper.

ill be doing my duck walk on Tuesday. I don't even know what a duck walk is. And don't you have to do it naked?

It's been a few years, but if I remember correctly, squat a2g and walk forward, stepping heel to toe.

squat down and walk (waddle) in a lowered squat position. Not naked, but in skivvies. Those navy docs job is to make sure you're good to go. If thats your only problem, I'd say no worries. Good luck.
