Adding weight to kettlebells

Hi guys,

A quick question for those of you who use kettlebells - have any of you increased the weight of your bell with ankle/wrist weights?

Thanks for sharing that link, not a bad idea at all.
The only other way I can think of is to tape small plates to the KB, but you'd have to tape them very securely to avoid a nasty accident. :shock:

I just don't see the point, the increase is marginal (and yeah, I've tried doing it).

I don't think tehre's any safe, practical way of adding weight to tehm that would be of any use, unless you had a kettlestack.

It's one advantage of teh dumbells over teh kettle I suppose.

You could try using oven gloves as another way to increase the difficulty ... absolutely fries your grip apparently.

i dont think small changes in weight matter that much when trining with a kb..... i have been working with a 16kg bell for a few years and it is still a challenge to play with...... it's all about programming imo.......

if i want the challenge of a heavier bell i have my 55#......

Ha ! You should have thought of this before you bought your kettlebell ;)There is really no acceptable way of adding weight to a KB and that's way I don't like them. Expensive and after a while ''useless''. Go and use a dumbbell.

Oh come on, I don't want to get into an argument, but that doesn't hold any water at all. There's always ways to make an exercise more difficult.

i guess you hate hexagonal dumbells as well?

And how about bodyweight exercise, you can't add any weight there unless you start pigging out on donuts.

I'm cool with whatever people want to use, it's fine by me. But let's not start slagging modalities off, at least not without due cause.

i have never found my lighter bel to be 'useless'...... in fact i have found more ways to use them..... in fact kbs have been about 95% of my non-mma training since this summer..... but i will concede..... that once you buy 1 you WILL end up with about 3 or 12 of them.....
