I have plantar fasicilitis . The doctor cleared me to work upperbody. But it looks bad going to the gym so I needed a substitute for bench presses . I am doing pushups with it. I got 15 on the first set last time out. I just up the sets slightly and use pushup handles and pauses at the bottom nose to the floor etc. I use 5 sets of 10 (well 15 one the first set).
I used an online calculator . You use around 64 % of your bw during a pushup , so adding 10kg worked quite well to get to around 10 reps .
I was using around 7 reps on my first set bench pressing and then 5 on the subsequent sets. So these two weeks will be deload weeks .
Probably slightly heavier vest would work better as a I progress but I plan to be back in work and at the gym within two weeks
To answer the question I think they work well for press ups , the kneeling ab wheel rollouts for heavier guys. Of course you could do pike pushups with a stepladder or chair with a light vest. Bw squats would be good with the vests too or one legged squats. I have been going down on one leg to a low chair and coming back .
How are you getting on with the powertwister?
if you aching consider deloading or even complete rest for a few weeks.
