Ross, how big is tire you flip on your vid?

Postby 1Tim48 » Thu Feb 23, 2012 11:43 am

I'm looking for a big tire to flip, hammer, and jump on, but want to make sure I get one that works (Not too easy and not too hard). the one on your video that you're flipping and hammering and jumping on looks perfect. How big is it?

I have a few, so I'm not sure which you are referencing. I have tires ranging from 500 to 700 pounds. I almost got one close to 900 pounds last year, but it was too wide to fit in the back of the truck.

Thanks Ross, I was asking about the the one on your video (Tractor Tire Workouts: finding and using) It looks like the perfect size for flipping, hammering, and jumping onto. I don't have a lot of space, so I need to find one tire that will work.

Most tire shops will let you pick whatever you want from the scrap pile. That's how I've always found our tires. It's hit or miss though. Some days they have loads of tires in the scrap pile, while other times the selection is limited.

I've used a home depot truck in the past to get the tires home. The cost of the rental was minimal based on what we get in return.

My tire is slightly smaller than the one Ross got, I live on an island so its hard to get ones that size, and I added substantial weight via an added/wrapped chain and by occationaly inserting three smaller tires inside the large one. Yes, if you stuff them in they'll stay.

Yes, adding tires is a common approach.

I actually posted a similar article to the blog a few years back.
