Fighters strength training

As the topic says what kind of strength training would you recommend for fighters. Bodyweight or iron, or a mixture of both?.

It does not matter whether you use weights, bodyweight etc. Your body cannot tell the difference so pick whichever you like. There are plenty of good fighters who have used both. The important thing is to give priority to your skill training. whist you are beginning you will probably not need additional strength work as boxing training is a strength workout in itself.

Train hard, train smart, train consistantly, eat well and rest well.
It sounds easy but it is very challenging.
Training priority for combat sport is SKILL, CONDITIONING, STRENGTH.

Seconded, resistance is resistance. Work on strength qualities instead of worrying about iron or bodyweght cals.

If you don't have Never Gymless or Infinite Intensity then that is where you should start.

Everybody has their own preferences.
Personally I like bodyweight exercises because they're convienent and you don't need much equipment. Plus, you can change angles and employ static holds to make them much more challenging, and they're great for training explosive strength and muscle endurance, which is critical for fighters.
Old time fighters steered clear of weights and focused on bodyweight movements, but the new breed employs more weights while saying that the old-timers aversion to weights is unfounded.
But for some reason, something tells me that the old-timers weren't as clueless about weight training as today's weight training proponents would have you believe.
After all, weight training has been around for a long time. Squats, deads, benches, and oly lifts aren't anything new, and I'd wager that the old-timers tried all of them before concluding that bodyweight movements were the best way to go.
Guys like Marciano, Frazier, and Tyson before he went to prison, to name a very few, didn't use weights, and could punch a hole in your head.

I mix things up. I love heavy deadlifts and squats- heaving heavy iron is an irreplaceable feeling. It's also fun to do weighted pull-ups, dips, etc.

But then, I love how punishing high-rep BW exercises can be. Great for muscular endurance and conditioning.

My philosophy is to use as many tools as I find useful- as such, I use both bodyweight and weights to aid my training.

Do both, weights and bodyweight exercises, dont forget resistance(bands)
