Attempting to better myself - my boxing log.

First things first: I am 6ft 2inch (188cm) tall and about 87kg (195lbs) as I write this.

I thought I would start this log to keep track of what I am doing etc, I will update it every day I train.
If anyone has any recommendations, questions or comments please dont hesitate.

Basically I am trying to roughly implement a 5 day plan such as from II and NG around my boxing training sessions.
I have been 'doing' (is that the correct term?) Rosstraining for about 4 months now and have had some great improvements in my conditioning and strength. Especially as I am not a naturally athletic or explosive person, and until recently have always been pretty unfit.
My goal is to maybe get my skills and condition to a level where I personally was comfortable to have an amateur fight some time next year. Will see how I go!
Anyway, I will start the log now, I wish I started it 4-5 months ago, but oh well.
Will not include warm up sets etc etc on strenght days. Anyway here we go:

Today:
GPP# 4 with a time of 20:40
A personal best, but felt pretty bad after about the 4th time through. I think I should be able to crack 20mins next time I do it.

Was meant to have class today, but it was canceled.

Came home a did a skipping(rope jumping) circuit. Have been playing around with a skipping/burpee mixed circuit thing. Trying different lengths, rest times amounts etc and tonights was definatly the best mix I have found so far. Allowed for the best mix of good burpees and good fast skipping.

Was 8x 2min rounds, 1min rest. Start the round with 10 burpees (takes me about 25sec), then jump rope the remainder of the round. Rest and repeat.
Great little cardio workout!

Tonight I did GPP# 3

Felt pretty good, but I swear the better you get at these, the harder they become! If that makes sense.

Managed to do 12-14 Burpee's on each of the first 30sec blocks, and 10-12 on the second block of them.
Really pushed hard on the jumping jacks, my fastest so far on them I think, squats were no problem, I just seem to squat quite slowly?
Struggled on the pushups at the end of rounds 2 and 4, just dont seem to be able to 'pump out' push ups, especially when fatigued from the other excersize.

Tonight was some skill work.

All rounds are 2mins, with 1min rest.

Did 2 x jump rope rounds to warm up.

3x shadow boxing

3x slipbag round (with shadow boxing etc included)

5x heavy bag

Felt really good the whole time, to be honest, I was pushing hard but didnt really get tired. If I had a bigger heavy bag here, I would have included a punch out drill like I normally do when I train at my boxing gym.

Was trying to work on keeping my speed up, punch retraction and making sure I put together good combos.

Hurt myself a couple of days ago, so had 3 or so days off.
Got back into it today, actually feel a bit better after it too.

did 3x2min skipping
3x2min shadow boxing
3x2min slip bag
5x2min heavy bag.

All felt pretty good, not my best, few mistakes here and there.

Had training the last couple of nights, all has gone well, except I have been getting some pain in my right thumb every now and then when doing heavy bag drills, when the shot doesnt land exacly right. Any ideas? Havent asked my coach yet, will next time I see him.

No class tonight so did "No Excuses" for the first time, not sure why I hadn't done it before, I think it being a 'short' workout might have made me look for something more challenging. Wow have I been mistaken!
Was absolutely brutal!
I also did 26 burpee's in the first 60sec of the workout, which I am pretty sure is a new PB for me!!
Might not sound like much to some of you, but if you saw me even attempt burpees 6-8 months ago you would laugh!.

Did some explosive strength tonight.

8x DB snatch each arm
30 sec rest
12 squat jumps
1 min rest
Repeat x 4

8x explosive pushups
30sec rest
12x box jumps
Repeat x 4

8x medicine ball hopping side to side pushups
30sec rest
12x lateral jumps over med ball
Repeat x 4

Training last night.

Well I beat my aim! :)

Gpp 4 with a time of 19.30! Not too bad for a big guy.
Form on burpees is far from the best, but always looking to improve :)

Forgot to update the last couple of days.

Yesterday did no excuses again, but also used a 12.5kg (26lb) medicine ball on the squats. Was hard, but good!

Today did some explosive strength stuff:

8x bodyweight rows (cos I dont think I can do pullups yet)
12x knee tucks
4 sets

8x explosive pushups
12x explosive step ups
4 sets

8x explosive medicine ball push ups
12x lunge jumps
4 sets

Was all pretty good, but the lunge jumps still kick my ass! :P
