Still pushing after all these years

Postby Herrjan » Sun Aug 18, 2013 6:17 am

Like it or not, coming week I will be 62! I am still in decent shape, but getting old is not a permission slip to forget about goals.

Current high priority goals:

25+ pistols
Being able to do handstand push-ups
10+ one arm p-ups full ROM
Doing stand-to-stand bridges
Improved cardio

As for the p-ups I have to move slowly. Partly, it is a matter of rehab for my shoulder joint which I injured when I slipped on the ice last winter.

August 17

Close grip chin ups 12,12,6
Lunges 50
Straight bridges 3x10

Easy workout outdoors. Rainy day.

Good goin' man! I thought i was doing pretty good, but i'm a relative youngster at 50!

Hope i'm still doin' it at 62 as well! Everything going well i will be. The training will probably change or evolve but hopefully i'll still be in good condition to do it all.

Well, you can expect more need for recovery between workouts. No surprise, I guess! A bit more annoying is the fact that your body becomes less forgivable so that you always have to watch out for strains and bruises.

August 19

Finger grip pull ups 5,4,3,2,1
Hanging knee lifts 10
Hanging straight leg lifts super slow 3x5
Gripper training

August 20

Rest, sauna in the evening

August 21
Push-ups:
Regular 12
Assisted one-arm 12R, 12L
Finger tip 12
Knuckles 12
Slow hindu 12

Pistols 2x5
Hindu squats 100
Back bridge rolls 25

Focus on perfect form for push ups. Some noises from right shoulder joint with lasting pain. Maybe I have to figure out some other variant for building on the one-arm push up.

August 27

Rest day. Did some rehab band pulling for shoulder joint and trained with gripper

August 28

Hanging knee lifts 10

Walk, jog, run- fartlek 40 minutes
Burpees 2x12
Lying hip swings 10

Note: grip is the limiting factor when doing leg lifts. The padded bar becomes slippery.
