Bernard Hopkins vs. Chad Dawson Predictions

Postby vicenteumanzor » Fri Apr 27, 2012 7:54 am

I say B-Hop wins by split decision. Something tells me that Dawson is gonna give him some trouble, especially because of Dawson's size. But I think B-hop's ring smarts will earn him the victory.

BHop unanimous decision.
Obviously boxing is one of those sports where literally ANYTHING could happen. So my crazy off the wall prediction would be Dawson by TKO in round 7.

I don't think there is anyway Hopkins is going to last the distance against dawson, so I'm going for a stoppage win for Dawson in the 5th round.

Bad Chad by fairly tight decision in a boring fight.

A few years ago for fun I came up with a list of my 5 favorite all-time boxers, and I think Hopkins was #5, so I've been a supporter (and not b/c we have the same last name!). However, if B-Hop can come away w/a victory tonight, then his craftiness surprises even me. I'll pick Dawson in a split decision.

Working in Bernard's favor is that Dawson's KO % is rather low, and I don't think he's had one in the past five years. Could give the wily elder veteran enough opportunity to win a points contest.

If Hopkins wins an impressive victory, HATS OFF!

Dawson wins in a long and boring fight interspersed with some drama. B-Hop will pull every dirty tactic his many years of experience can muster. He is the master but despite his forever youthful performance to date, this is the last big fight for him. I am picking a retirement of B-Hop not long after this fight. He will claim he was robbed, he will probably even fake another injury, but this is his last dance in the twilight of his career.

Good luck to B-Hop though. A great fighter and an unbelievable career.

Good thread idea, Vicenteumanzor. I hope we do the same with other notable fights coming down the pike (Mayweather-Cotto, etc.).

I'm a little surprised there isn't more boxing talk on this forum. Kind of thought there would be. Still fun.
